My name is Angela Whitcomb, and I am the proud mother of four children. My journey into understanding neurodivergence began with my first son. At that time, I didn't possess the extensive knowledge I have today, but I had a mother’s love and devotion. This strong foundation motivated me to ensure that he had the right Kindergarten teacher, and the incredible success he experienced that year shaped my desire to become a teacher for other neurodivergent students. I began my path at community college, working hard to earn a transfer scholarship to a local university. Achieving that goal, I graduated in 2007 after just two years, instead of the typical three, with honors. That same year, I started teaching my first class as a special education teacher while my son began high school. In 2017, I transitioned to a position teaching self-contained students with Autism in our local school district. There, I implemented an adaptive curriculum and used the Georgia extended standards to support my students' individual learning needs.
