Kathleen Amstutz and Tamara Morett are experienced educators and co-founders with a shared passion for supporting diverse learners. Kathleen has spent 16 years teaching in public school systems across the country, while Tamara brings 27 years of experience working in two of Minnesota’s largest districts. For the past eight years, they have co-taught in a K-5 special education classroom, collaborating to design a highly regarded program that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

    My neurodiverse son has had the absolute pleasure of being taught by BOTH Ms. Morett and Ms. Amstutz. Together, they are a rockstar TEAM!

    Several years ago, we severely struggled when our son attended a private school for kindergarten and 1st grade. We thought the teaching environment would be top notch at a private school, but they just did not have the resources or knowledge to teach and support my son the way he needed in order to succeed. They made him feel like a bad child when he couldn’t sit still, got angry, or couldn’t follow directions. At one point, my son’s anxiety was so bad we had to leave the private school in the middle of his 1st grade year. That is when he ended up in Ms. Morett’s classroom and he finally found where he belonged.
    Our eyes were opened to how you cannot expect all children to fit a one-size-fits-all mold, and that way more emphasis needs to be made on the social emotional environment, a concept many schools lack in nurturing. Ms. Morett saw my son for the kind, humorous, wonderful child he is and made him love learning and school. He is now happy, thriving, and in third grade with Ms. Amstutz. We will never forget these teachers and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who has the opportunity for their child(ren) to learn under their care. I cannot thank them enough for the difference they have made in our lives that we will carry with us always.

    There’s no words to describe the experience my family and I have had with Mrs. Tammy Morett and Mrs. Kathleen Amstutz. My son was diagnosed with Autism in 2018, at age 2 and my husband and I had no idea what life was going to be like for him, or for us as new parents especially when it came to his education. My son was in preschool during the onset of covid so in addition to the challenges he faced with having Autism, he also had to navigate Kindergarten the year after covid forced children to attend school remotely. It was tough to say the least. My son wouldn’t even speak in school and for the first weeks to a month or more, it was thought that he was non verbal. Once Mrs Morett found out he could speak and the many other things he was capable of, she was relentless with him and NEVER allowed him to do or be anything other than great. She and Mrs. Amstutz have worked with my son since Kindergarten and have done nothing but bring out the best in him. Neither of them allow him to say he can’t do things. They know his abilities and hold him accountable. He never wants to disappoint either of them and when he thinks he has, he works hard to show them that he can and will do better.
    I wish both of them the most success that you can ever wish anyone. They have certainly been the best teachers to my son and a blessing to all whose lives they’ve touched. I thank them both tremendously for everything and although I’m sad to see them leave, I know they are going to be amazing and Heart Learning Collective will be a complete success.

    I would love to share my experience working with Mrs. Morett.

    She has changed my son’s outlook on school completely. In Kindergarten he was throwing chairs, running away, refusing to do his work, today he is excelling academically and is thriving emotionally.

    Thanks to Tammy my son is who he is today.

    I’m so happy that I trusted her judgment along the way, she’s a fantastic teacher and person.

    She has a way with children that helps them succeed and I highly recommend her anytime I can.
