Innovations Leadership Academy

Innovations Leadership Academy’ s goal is to empower individuals valuing their unique talents, diverse backgrounds, and skills to encourage them to succeed, and socialize effectively in the society in which they live. The founding team would like to replicate the blended-learning model that has been showing success in different schools around the country. This model is centered on the student’s needs and likes in an innovative and technological environment aligned to the current generation and societal demands. Considering that and the 21st century skills our vision and mission are as follow:

Vision: To create and cultivate a community of modern scholars with a lifelong love of learning, personal determination, and leadership abilities.

Mission: To provide a rigorous personal education path with authentic and unique hybrid learning opportunities to create a well-balanced scholar.

Innovations Leadership Academy will be focusing on enriching the social-emotional aptitude, academic deficiencies, access to technology, and career and college readiness whilst we nourish and reinforce the character and values of each of our students in a blended learning environment engaged in project-based learning measured by a personalized competency-based education framework (PCBE). Innovations Leadership Academy (ILA) will reinforce teaching with rigor, adopting community partnerships, effective collaborative planning, and continuous support.

As part of our vision, we are planning to serve grades K-8 by opening 3 micro-schools that will (all 3 combined) hold 504 students total within the city of Fort Worth, Texas. The following campus structure will be implemented:

·Kindergarten-2nd Grade: A separate building or section of a school building that houses up to 5th grade. Each grade level will have 56 students in total. They will then be divided across 4 teachers into groups of 14. Students will rotate between the 4 core teachers and their 3 elective teachers (Music, Art, and P.E.)

· 3rd Grade-5thGrade: A separate building or section of a school building that houses up to 5th grade. Each grade level will have 56 students in total. They will then be divided across 4 teachers into groups of 14. Students will rotate between the 4 core teachers and their 3 elective teachers (Music, Art, and P.E.)

· 6th Grade-8th Grade: A separate building solely for the selected grade levels. Each grade level will have 56 students in total. They will then be divided across 4 core teachers into groups of 14. Students will rotate between the 4 core teachers and their 3 elective teachers (Career and Technical Education (CTE), Art, and P.E.), We will incorporate technical, career, and entrepreneurial elective coursework.

The school design was built around a culture of high expectations; continuous communication with families, literacy and math workshops, project-based learning, college and career awareness, and social-emotional learning that combine online education experiences within face-to-face instruction. Our students will have access to a variety of literacy methods and learning experiences through the implementation of a blended learning model that is enriched virtual, and include station rotations, hands-on activities, inquiry, and project-based technique.

Markus Baskerville has served several positions from teacher’s aide to his current role as campus principal for a charter school in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. His duties in education have consisted of outlining and tracking clear goals, targets and strategies aligned to the school vision to improve teacher effectiveness and student outcomes, developing and using effective conflict-management and consensus-building skills, making effective decisions that support campus and district goals, developing and implementing a campus strategic plan, ensuring that standards-based and aligned curriculum meet the needs of all students and student groups, facilitating the implementation of high-quality, effective classroom instruction, coaches and develops teachers by providing actionable feedback to improve the quality of instruction, ensured the use of student level data to drive continuous improvement, fostered and developed the highest level of professional practices on the campus level, recruited, hired, mentored, and retained high-quality staff, conducted evaluations of staff for continuous improvement and accountability, trained, developed, and supported a high-performing campus staff, managed resources (people, financials, equipment) effectively to support the organizational goals, utilized all funds in compliance with state and federal guidelines, while maximizing the goals of the campus, ensured campus facilities, equipment and support systems operated safely, efficiently and effectively. Mr. Baskerville has also maintained a supportive, secure, and respectful learning environment that ensured the social, emotional, and physical well-being of staff and students, while modeling and promoting the highest standard of conduct, ethical principles and integrity in decision-making, actions, and behaviors. Mr. Baskerville believes in affording all students opportunities and avenues because he himself was given opportunities and paths to take once they were opened to him by others who helped to guide and mentor him to such prospects that he would have never known about, and because of those personal experiences he is passionate about providing an academic-rich enlightening program to any student who needs the support to reach their full potential.
