Athena Micro-academy of Austin is a relationship-centered microschool designed for self-directed students in grades 6-12 who thrive in smaller social spaces and are looking for a different way to do school. It’s a year-round program with breaks between terms and students learn at their own pace. Families choose a curriculum that best serves their child’s needs and interests. In addition to a comprehensive core academics program, Athena Micro-academy offers Voces, a daily Spanish immersion block, and Athena’s Council, a life and leadership skills program. Athena’s Council blends direct instruction and project-based learning in topics such as personal finance, communication, organization, and study skills, to name a few. Students will also be offered various community service opportunities so that they can create a positive impact in their communities and put their leadership skills into practice.

At Athena we value and coach towards student autonomy, exercising flexibility with structure and plenty of guidance, and creating a space that students love to be a part of. Students are invited to propose clubs, such as Dungeons and Dragons Club, Video Game Club, Crochet Club, Sewing Club, and more! In addition, Intercession Camps will be offered throughout the year during breaks. Athena offers an after school program for added supervised fun and gatherings, plus tutoring by appointment. Families may opt for the full Athena experience or may choose one of two part-time options.
