The FOCUS Academy was founded by Karolyn Miller, a dedicated nurse leader with over 28 years of experience serving children and families across private, public, and municipal school systems. Throughout her career, she has worked on the front lines of student health and wellness, gaining a deep understanding of the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs that impact student success. Her work has consistently centered on bridging gaps in care, advocating for equitable support, and helping schools create environments where all students can thrive.
In addition to her professional expertise, she brings a deeply personal perspective as both an advocate and the parent of a twice-exceptional middle school boy. Navigating the challenges of supporting a child who is both gifted and has unique learning needs has strengthened her commitment to reimagining education in a way that truly sees and supports the whole child. The FOCUS Academy was built from this dual lens of experience and passion, with a mission to provide personalized, inclusive learning environments where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.
