For a long time, I was told I was "too much." As a child who felt every emotion—from the highest joys to the deepest grief—with searing intensity, I was often met with a chorus of "calm down" or "stop crying." I learned early on to quiet my inner world to fit a mold that wasn’t built for me, eventually carrying that lesson into a successful career in real estate. From the outside, life looked complete; but inside, there was a persistent whisper telling me there was a different path. Following a leap of faith and eighteen months of reflection and prayer, I found my answer in the most unexpected place: a preschool classroom.
Amidst the "explosive" behaviors and big emotions of toddlers, I didn't see a problem to be solved—I saw myself. I realized that when we stop trying to control children and start trying to understand them, transformation happens. Unity Sanctuary is the space I needed as a little girl: a community center built on the belief that regulation is the foundation of learning and that education is the art and science of being fully human. We are building a sanctuary where relationships come first and where every child—and every parent—is seen, safe, and truly understood
