Microschool Founder

Amy Anderson is a Montessori teacher with seven years of elementary experience and a deep passion for alternative education. Her journey began when she discovered Summerhill by A.S. Neill in a college-town bookstore, sparking an exploration of homeschooling, unschooling, Reggio-Emilia, Waldorf, and self-directed learning. She loves coffee, books, and paddling on Florida’s rivers and springs. Committed to integrating Montessori principles with a broader, experience-based approach, she believes education should foster both academic independence and the freedom to explore the world beyond the classroom.

My 11 year old son was new to homeschool/microschool, but had been in a Montessori program since he was 3.
He came home the first few days genuinely excited about school and what he was learning. (Something he had lost along the way before this.). Though he most often excitedly reports the fun outdoor play he engages in, I have seen his work and he’s studying pretty advanced things. He even asked me to quiz him on the periodic table!
This program has allowed him to blossom in all of the ways and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of Wildwood Field School.

I cannot say enough good about the teachers and the environment. It is the perfect combination of Zen Montessori schoolhouse and nature-centric outdoor play and experiences. The kids are encouraged to pursue their interests and are proud to bring home their research and demonstrate what they’ve learned. The teachers are patient and kind, I don’t think anything could ruffle their feathers. The kids know what is expected of them and come in and get right to work. They have responsibilities and look forward to their chore rotations. They play outside almost every day and are encouraged to do risky play like climbing trees and building forts in the woods. It’s everything I could want for my kids: peace, guidance, structure, creativity, independence, adventure, nature, animals, gardening, cooking, experiments, responsibility, community. It’s absolutely wonderful.
