Experience the Magic of KaiPod

Student-Centered Experience

At KaiPod Learning, your child and their experience are at the center of everything we do. It guides our approach to academics, the way we plan enrichments, and how we think about and structure social time. Here is how we designed all three elements of our student experience:

  • OUR APPROACH

We believe that as parents you know your child best. You have gotten to know their way of learning, what motivates them, what frustrates them, and what gets them really excited and engaged. That is why we give you as the family the choice and power to decide which curriculum is best and how and what your child should learn.

Our schedules and Learning Coach support were developed to allow for self-paced learning and to give your family all the flexibility you need. Our Learning Coaches are your partners supporting you and your child on this journey in the capacity you choose.

    DAILY SCHEDULE
Depending on the student’s age and family’s preference, students spend between 3-4 hours a day in academic blocks.

Academic blocks are focused periods of time where students complete work that has been assigned from their online school or by their parents. During this time, Coaches check in with individual students, provide 1:1 tutoring, and are available for questions and support.

Included in the Academics time is 30 minutes of pleasure reading where students read a book of their choice, outside of the normal curriculum.

  • OUR APPROACH
Enrichment activities help to get students interested in what they are learning, which, in turn, creates engagement. That is why all of our enrichment activities are student-centered. Our Learning Coaches design and lead daily activities that are centered around their students’ interests and engage each child. All of our enrichments are community-based to support collaboration and a strong pod culture. Examples of enrichment activities include:

-Coming up with ideas for new products and simulating a “Shark Tank” pitch to gain investment

-Building a bridge out of spaghetti and marshmallows to learn key concepts in physics

-Creating a brand new board game based on the creativity and ideas of the other students in the pod

    DAILY SCHEDULE
Each pod does an enrichment activity every day which typically takes around 60 minutes.

  • OUR APPROACH

Social time is valued and intentionally nurtured at every KaiPod Learning Center. Throughout the day, our Coaches plan both structured and unstructured social time for their students. During this time, the kids connect with each other, have the opportunity to discover common interests, and develop friendships.

KaiPod Learning Coaches are creating a positive and inclusive culture during this time, fostering a collaborative mindset, and running restorative practices.

    DAILY SCHEDULE
Our students spend 2-3 hours a day in structured or unstructured social time. KaiPod spaces are filled with board games, puzzles, and art supplies to help facilitate this time. Students will often go outside to a nearby playground or park space.

    COACH ROLE
Our Learning Coaches actively encourage students to take time away from their devices by facilitating game play and actively monitor the space to ensure that all students are included and engaged.
