Meet Learning Coach Renee

Renee is a joyful and enthusiastic member of the KaiPod Learning team, joining in 2023. She is originally from Phoenix, Arizona, although she recently returned from living in Sydney, Australia, for the past 12 years.

For over 15 years, Renee has been a long-time educator teaching students of all ages and a wide variety of backgrounds on three different continents: the USA, Australia, and China. During her time in Australia, Renee taught in both mainstream public and private schools, as well as in a special education setting, as she worked for 5 years with Aspect Australia, which is Australia’s largest national service provider for students on the autism spectrum. In the USA, Renee was employed for 5 years with The Cave Creek Unified School District, and she also worked with high-risk youth at Student Choice High School in Paradise Valley. In China, Renee taught English at two separate university campuses in both the Sichuan and Jilin provinces. Renee has a range of experience teaching students from grade 5 through high school and beyond.

Working in a variety of settings with a wide range of students has taught Renee the importance of leading with respect and genuine interest in each individual, in order to create a classroom environment where all students feel welcomed and where she focuses on bringing out the best in each one of her students. Renee is qualified in Secondary Education/English and holds a B.S. degree from Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona. She completed further studies at International House Sydney in Australia where she obtained her CELTA certification to further support her work with diverse ELL and ELD learners. When Renee isn’t in the classroom, you can find her reading, cooking, enjoying coffee, hiking or traveling with her Australian husband, and playing with her two cats that she and her husband brought with them to the USA from Australia.

Meet Learning Coach Emily

Emily, the daughter of circus clowns, is a former teacher who has a passion for teaching students to become confident and independent thinkers so that they strive to achieve their goals and create new paths for success. Emily is dedicated to encouraging students to feel brave so that they feel free to be themselves and to be self-advocates.

Emily, born and raised in Delaware, is passionate about exploring new places and learning about how other people view the world. She spent five years as an international teacher in South Korea, Israel, Ecuador, and Mexico as well as two years working as a Youth Staff in the Kids Club on a cruise ship! Emily’s sense of adventure and excitement to immerse herself into other cultures is something that makes her more curious about the world. Since coming back to the United States, Emily taught for four years in New York City and Phoenix, Arizona where she was really able to grow as a professional while pursuing her goals to make a difference in others’ lives.

In her spare time, you can find Emily traveling, learning new cultures and languages, eating food from other countries, dancing salsa and bachata, watching a good movie or series, at the gym, camping, hiking, kayaking, swimming in a waterfall, and just enjoying the outdoors. She plans to learn how to cook more international foods this year!

Emily’s goal for KaiPod is to create an environment where the students feel comfortable to connect with her and build strong relationships. Emily aspires to teach her students where to find the tools that they need in order to grow and succeed while feeling proud to be who they are as an individual. Emily loves nothing more than to see her students’ excitement and self-pride when they have accomplished a feat and are unforgivingly happy to be themselves. Emily is excited for this upcoming year with KaiPod!
